The Soroptimist International of the Tri-Cities Pretty Bag Project has been the identifying project of the club since is formation in 2002. The bags include such necessities as shampoo, conditioner, soap, a brush, tooth brush, tooth paste, dental floss, razors and nail files among others.  The bags are given to domestic violence survivors at Fremont-based SAVE and throughout Alameda County. The club also donates a portion of the bags to local organizations that support survivors of human trafficking. These bags give these women, who often have left everything behind, a way to feel better about themselves and improve their self esteem.

Thanks to a grant from Soroptimist International of the Americas, the club’s parent organization, SI Tri-Cities will be able to expand the reach of its project by increasing the number of bags from 75 to 200 per year, 100 during the holidays and 100 in the spring.

To raise the required $3,750 in matching funds, Soroptimist of the Tri-Cities is reaching out to our community for help. Local businesses can participate in the Soroptimist Pretty Bag Project by
1.) Hosting a Pretty Bag giving tree in your office or place of business (April 18th – May 11th)
2.) Hosting a donation jar
3.) Sponsoring an item or number of bags
