Project Soft Landing

Project Soft Landing is an ongoing program of Soroptimist International of the Tri-Cities and was created to enhance the marketability of economically challenged women striving to achieve economic self-sufficiency for themselves and their families. Project Soft Landing provides educational opportunities, interview workshops, image workshops, appropriate interview/work clothing and financial assistance to women in need going through major life transitions.

Project Soft Landing is committed to helping women become self sufficient and economically independent. Whether it is a helping hand applying for a job training program, support after completing one or interviewing for a new job we strive to provide support to women pursuing a position at any level in both traditional and non-traditional fields.

Educational Opportunities: Scholarships and grants are available to women who may need assistance with child care, books, tuition or other expenses when pursuing a job training program or higher education.

Dressing and Image Consultation: Each woman receives an individual appointment and can receive up to a week’s worth of clothing, including a suit and accessories for her job search.

Resume Review and Interview Assistance:Participants have the opportunity to meet one-on-one to receive feedback on their resumes and gain insight into the interviewing process from business owners and professional women. 

Beauty Basics: Participants may also be eligible to receive a hair cut, make up lesson and a beauty basics gift bag filled with sample beauty products and instruction booklet so that they can recreate their new, professional look at home before their job interview.

Who is eligible for a Soft Landing?
Have you recently completed a job training program or college? Are you leaving the foster care system? Reentering the workforce? Changing jobs or careers? Going back to school? Experienced a life changing event? Are you the primary source of financial support for your family?
Then you are invited to apply for a Soft Landing by filling out an application available here or by being referred directly by one of several community organizations throughout the Tri-City area.
